Sound Guards
NEW! - Sound Guard SST Strong, silent, timesaving, & made of the finest materials, the Westerbeke Sound Guard SST is designed for rugged service and is easy to install. Sound Guard SST is available for diesel models 4 through 32 kW only.
Materials are of the highest quality The Sound Guard SST consists of 5 powder coated aluminum panels and stainless steel base and frame. The powder coated aluminum panels provide optimum corrosion resistance while reducing the weight of the generator. The frame (where attached to the base) and base are likely to be subjected to the most moisture; therefore, are of stainless steel, a highly corrosion resistant metal. Even the rivets are of stainless steel. The top panel also covers the side panels to lessen the likelihood that moisture will enter the Sound Guard SST.
Strong, sturdy and rugged The Sound Guard SST is designed for tough duty. While not recommended to kneel or stand on the unit, some may ignore warnings and do just that. The thick frame and sturdy panels result in a very robust enclosure.
Stylish appearance The Sound Guard SST is designed to please the eye and resist the corrosion process that age many sound enclosures before their time. Westerbeke believes each customer should be proud of any product’s appearance well after the initial purchase.
Engineered for silent operation The Sound Guard SST cuts noise to enhance your offshore boating experience. Keeping your generator set to a whisper will allow you to enjoy the pleasure of boat ownership in the quiet of your favorite cove. Experience engineering excellence and a new standard of quality that is unheard of. Available for Westerbeke diesel generators 5–32kW, the Sound Guard SST further reduces the average sound intensity of a generator set up to 50% so you can forget you have a set operating.
Westerbeke's Standard Sound Guards are quiet, contemporary-looking and easier to install than ever. Standard Sound Guards are available for Century Series models only.
Westerbeke's Sound Guard has a rigid, protective outer surface that wraps around the soft, sound-deadening material, holding it firmly in place and protecting its edges. Our competitors' panels usually have glued-on sheets of insulation which, over time, get battered and, sooner or later, become detached as the glue deteriorates.
Westerbeke's panels are also easier to remove: they have latches and don't use nuts and bolts. And they're designed so that you can remove a single panel for routine checks or all the panels for more extended maintenance - no tools needed, and no fasteners to fall into the bilge. The enclosure can be completely disassembled allowing full access to the genset in a minute or two - the most user-friendly enclosure available.
